ABOUT DOLLY SINGH
Dolly Singh, an embodiment of kindness and compassion, an unrelenting force for equality and human rights, our most beloved, precious friend and team member.
Dolly joined Shakti Shalini in 2016 as a “Counselor” at our Crisis Intervention and Counseling Centre (CICC). With her skill and commitment toward survivors of gender/sexual violence, she soon became the “Coordinator” of CICC and then the “Response Lead” overseeing Pan-India survivor support operations, In June 2021, Dolly took on the adventure of beginning Shakti Shalini’s Eastern and North- Eastern Chapter, based out of Kolkata. Part of our second line management, Dolly is remembered as an inspiring and dynamic leader of Shakti Shalini.
On 8th October, 2022, Dolly breathed her last at a medical facility in Kolkata, surrounded by love and care.
For Dolly, the survivors of gender /sexual violence that she supported were always her foremost priority and so, in that memory and clarity of conviction, we continue.
It was the privilege of our lifetimes to have been able to work toward a shared vision of gender equality with Dolly. It has been our gift to have witnessed so closely her work ethic and competence, her fearlessness in the face of violence and her commitment to equality, and the unforgettable dignity and grace of her conduct.
A most free – spirited woman, her young life encompassed lifetimes of meaning and purposefulness.
